55 Sūrat ar Raḥmān ~ the Merciful

In the name of God the Compassionate the Merciful 0

The Compassionate 1

Taught the Qur’ān. 2

He created man, 3

Taught him eloquence. 4

The sun and the moon by exact computation, 5

And the stars and the trees, they do prostrate. 6

And the heaven He raised, and He laid down the balance. 7

You may not transgress in the balance. 8

So weigh matters justly, and do not shortchange the scale. 9

And the earth He laid out for the creatures. 10

And in it are fruit and sheathed date palms, 11

And husked grains and fragrant plants. 12

So, which of the bounties of your Lord do you both deny? 13

He has created humanity from clay as vessels, 14

And created the jinn from a mixture of fire. 15

So, which of the blessings of your Lord do you both deny? 16

Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests, 17

So, which of the bounties of your Lord do you both deny? 18

He has allowed the two seas to flow, meeting, 19

Between both of them is a barrier they do not cross. 20

So, which of the bounties of your Lord do you two deny? 21

From both of them come the pearl and the coral. 22

So, which of the bounties of your Lord do you two deny? 23

And for Him are the ships elevated in the sea like mountains. 24

So which of the bounties of your Lord do you two deny? 25

Everyone who is on it will perish. 26

And yet will remain the face of your Lord, the Owner of Glory and Honor. 27

So, which of the bounties of your Lord do you two deny? 28

Whoso is in the heavens and earth asks Him, every day He is in a matter 29

So, which of the favors of your Lord do you two deny? 30

We will attend to you, O you dependents. 31

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you two deny? 32

O assembly of jinn and men, 33

If you are able to pass beyond realms of the heavens and earth, then pass.

You cannot pass, except by authority.

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you two deny? 34

There will be sent against both of you heat from a fire and smoke, 35

And you will not deliver yourselves.

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you two deny? 36

Then when the sky is split and it turns red like paint, 37

So which of the blessings of your Lord do you two deny? 38

Then on that day none will be questioned about his sin, 39

Not any man and not any jinn.

So which of the favors of your Lord do you two deny? 40

The criminals will be recognized by their marks, 41

And will be seized by the forelocks and the feet.

So which of the favors of your Rabb do you two deny? 42

This is hell, which the criminals deny. 43

They will go around between it and scalding boiled water. 44

So which of the favors of your Lord do you two deny? 45

But for him who fears standing before his Lord, there are two gardens, 46

So which of the favors of your Lord do you two deny? 47

Endowed with branches. 48

So which of the blessings of your Lord do you both deny? 49

In both of them there are two flowing springs. 50

So which of the blessings of your Lord do you both deny? 51

In both of them are all fruits in pairs. 52

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 53

Reclining on couches lined with brocade, 54

And the fruit of both gardens hangs low.

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 55

In them are companions with lowered gaze, 56

Not touched before by any man and not any jinn,

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 57

As if they were rubies and coral. 58

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 59

Is the reward for the good [anything] but good? 60

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 61

And besides these two there are two gardens, 62

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 63

Dark green, 64

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 65

In both of them are two springs overflowing, 66

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 67

In both of them are fruits and date palms and pomegranates. 68

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 69

In them are good and beautiful ones, 70

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 71

Demure, chaste ones in the pavilions, 72

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 73

No man has touched them before, and not any jinn, 74

So which of the blessings of your Rabb do you both deny? 75

Reclining on green cushions and beautiful carpets. 76

So which of the blessings of your Lord do you both deny? 77

Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor. 78
